Position Summary:

The College of Education at UCCS is establishing a pool of Instructors for the Student Affairs in Higher Education program, from which future appointments for temporary, non-tenure track roles will be filled. These positions are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be appointed on a semester basis.

Instructors will be responsible for teaching courses related to Student Affairs in Higher Education, including but not limited to: Leadership in Student Affairs, Team and Organizational Dynamics, Social Foundations of Higher Education, Theories of College Student Development, Counseling Techniques in Higher Education, Legal and Ethical Considerations in Higher Education, Financial Management in Student Affairs, Program Development and Evaluation in Student Services, Research Methodologies, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education, Culturally Responsive Approaches, Crisis Management, and the Student Affairs Practicum/Internship. Typically, graduate courses are conducted in-person on campus, while undergraduate courses are offered asynchronously online.

Work Environment:

Work location will be determined by the course format: on-site for in-person classes, remote for online courses, or a combination for hybrid courses.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $3,000 per 3-credit hour course.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in the relevant course content area.
  • Availability to teach in-person classes on campus or online asynchronous classes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree (e.g., PhD, JD).
  • Prior teaching experience in relevant subjects.
  • Active participation in professional development activities related to the course content area.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement is required while performing job duties.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.
