Position Overview:

The College of Education at UCCS is establishing a pool of Lecturers for the Student Affairs in Higher Education program, from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track roles will be made. These positions are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be filled on a semester-by-semester basis.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Lecturers will be responsible for delivering courses in the Student Affairs in Higher Education curriculum. Potential subjects include:

  • Social Foundations of Higher Education
  • Theories of College Student Development
  • Counseling Techniques in Higher Education
  • Legal and Ethical Considerations in Higher Education
  • Financial Management in Student Affairs
  • Program Development and Evaluation in Student Services
  • Research Methodologies and Statistics
  • Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education
  • Culturally Responsive Education Practices
  • Crisis Management in Student Affairs
  • Practicum/Internship in Student Affairs

Typically, graduate courses are conducted in-person on campus, while undergraduate courses are offered asynchronously online.

Work Environment:

Work location will vary based on course delivery method (on-site for in-person classes, remote for online courses, or a combination for hybrid courses).

Compensation:

The salary typically starts at $3,000 per 3-credit hour course. This position also qualifies for paid sick leave.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Higher Education Administration, or a closely related discipline
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in the relevant course content area
  • Willingness to teach both in-person and online courses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree (e.g., PhD, JD)
  • Prior teaching experience in a relevant field
  • Active participation in professional development within the subject area

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement is required for this role
  • Occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
