Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that safety and security are paramount responsibilities for all employees. Guarantees compliance with safety and security protocols, maintains necessary training, and integrates safety and security into every task, including taking necessary actions to halt work if it poses a safety risk or compromises security.
  • Define and establish institutional quality assurance and quality control objectives and responsibilities.
  • Comprehend and comply with regulatory guidance and governance pertinent to Quality Assurance (QA).
  • Verify that quality assurance outcomes, materials, processes, and final products adhere to quality specifications and are completed accurately according to established standards.
  • Supervise other quality engineers, specialists, and technical personnel in the planning, execution, and documentation of vendor and internal assessments, audits, and reviews.
  • Provide direct oversight of specific QA plans, assessment support to management, and coordination of supplier evaluations.
  • Develop, instruct others, and implement institutional QA policies and procedures.
  • Formulate responses to audit findings to ensure the adequacy of corrective actions, offering recommendations for best practices.
  • Guide personnel in understanding and implementing QA policies, plans, and procedures, providing management with insights and recommendations.
  • Manage the preparation, review, classification, and transmission of administrative and QA records.
  • Utilize technical expertise to identify areas for enhancing quality assurance practices.
  • Design and implement institutional QA training programs and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with production and design agency staff.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations for developing quality assurance procedures related to facilities and products.
  • Review and endorse inspection reports.
  • Initiate, validate, and resolve non-conformance reports.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma initiatives to enhance assessment processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of QA controls.
  • Support the development of quality systems associated with production and design activities.
  • Evaluate engineering authorizations to ensure compliance with technical and quality standards.
  • Offer technical support for compliance with quality requirements in production processes.
  • Guide junior staff in developing and operating quality control systems.
  • Establish testing and inspection procedures, implement them, and analyze results.
  • Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods to identify measurement tools and analyze data for improvement.
  • Define technical specifications, quality levels, sampling plans, and inspection procedures.
  • Review inspection reports and compliance certificates to verify their validity.
  • Analyze test data and compile evaluation reports.
  • Develop metrics and reporting methods to measure QA and QC processes.
  • Design test strategies for product and process qualification.
  • Plan and execute analysis, inspection, design, and testing activities.
  • Conduct quality-engineering reviews of design documents.
  • Lead structured problem-solving teams, applying statistical methods to resolve issues.
  • Monitor project activities related to the quality program.
  • Review engineering and procurement documents to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Assess new or revised requirements and their impact on the QA program.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers in QA program development and implementation.
  • Establish quality standards for the organization.
  • Represent the organization at industry and QA standards meetings.
  • Conduct audits and assessments against QA and QC requirements.
  • Collaborate with project personnel to ensure compliance with QA and customer requirements.
  • Develop control methods for product and process management.
  • Interpret and apply quality assurance standards and measurement tools.
  • Promote a respectful work environment free from discrimination and harassment.
Position Requirements:
  • 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1).
  • Expertise in QA activities, including audits, assessments, and compliance documentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of QA regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and schematics.
  • Proficient in research and problem-solving related to quality assurance.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying QA concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of national quality assurance standards.
  • Understanding of weapons quality requirements and related policies.
  • Ability to apply statistical methods for quality control.
  • Experience in developing and managing quality systems.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering and quality requirements.
  • Ability to mentor and guide personnel.
  • Recognized expertise in quality assurance practices.
  • Strategic thinking for program development.
  • Experience in implementing QA programs in nuclear and DOE contexts.
  • Education in a technical discipline, typically in engineering or science.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis for quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with construction codes and project management methodologies.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
