Position Summary:

The Senior Industrial Hygiene Specialist will act as a key resource for health and safety practices related to cleanup operations stemming from previous waste processing activities. Responsibilities will encompass the formulation, upkeep, and execution of industrial hygiene policies and procedures aligned with environmental safety and health (ES&H) programs. The specialist will work closely with colleagues and the workforce to devise solutions for intricate industrial hygiene challenges that necessitate thorough analysis of operational activities.

This position reports directly to the ES&H Programs Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert guidance on industrial hygiene and safety matters to address environmental remediation challenges.
  • Conducting site assessments to evaluate contamination levels and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal safety policies.
  • Developing and updating industrial hygiene processes and programs to meet technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Implementing control measures to eliminate or reduce hazards while supporting mission objectives.
  • Overseeing the industrial hygiene and safety performance of subcontractors to ensure adherence to established safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in applying technical standards and principles of industrial hygiene, including sampling methods and safety program development.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey industrial hygiene concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting industrial hygiene reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal regulations and standards related to industrial hygiene and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and propose solutions for health and safety issues.

Education and Experience:

Level 4:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physiology) with a minimum of 9 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the necessary skills.

Level 5:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field with at least 14 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the necessary skills.

Certifications:

Preferred certifications include Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
