Job Description

Thompson Pipe Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor to join our team in Rialto, CA. As an EHS Supervisor, you will be responsible for upholding all safety policies and work practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train and assist Plant Managers, supervisors, and HR in preparing incident notification, reporting, and investigation reports.
  • Assist with Root Cause Analysis and on-site investigations of all injuries/incidents.
  • Track injured employees and their medical rehabilitation, and develop light duty assignments.
  • Provide support and guidance with worker compensation claims.
  • Maintain compliance with operational permits, including stormwater, wastewater, operational air, and other state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure plant have adequate safety equipment and necessary PPE.
  • Enforce and promote safety regulations, policies, and procedures, and schedule mandatory safety training for all personnel.
  • Maintain the plant safety training matrix and create reports to management to show completion rates.
  • Keep the EHS Management updated and informed of issues within assigned area of responsibility at all times.
  • Provide guidance to management and employees on local, state, and federal safety regulations and DOT compliance.
  • Support plant leadership to foster a safe and effective working atmosphere.
  • Perform monthly safety meetings with the plant safety committee.
  • Develop monthly safety topics for managers to share with employees.
  • Create lessons learned reports to share plant EHS issues with plant management.
  • Perform quarterly facility inspections.
  • Perform hazard assessments on equipment and tasks.
  • Perform annual hearing and respirator fit testing.
  • Post all plant areas with necessary EHS requirements.
  • Perform annual EHS audit of plant.
  • Develop EHS procedures to support plant operations.
  • Assist with other plants and sites as required.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience as a safety professional in a heavy industrial role.
  • Knowledge of various industry safety training (Energy Isolation, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, etc.).
  • General knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Understands requirements with OSHA record keeping requirements and other regulatory and company requirements.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (required).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to make oral presentations on various safety-related topics.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office software, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and be highly organized.
  • Environmental & Industrial experience with classification, planning, and evaluation of specific permitting processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as an OHST, CHST, CSHO, or SHEP.
Work Environment
  • The work environment is not climate-controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.
