About the Role

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Office Manager to join the Office of Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in advancing the Commonwealth's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional administrative support to the Chief Diversity Officer and other team members, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and correspondence.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating diversity and inclusion events, programs, and trainings for employees and stakeholders.
  • Manage data related to diversity and inclusion initiatives, including tracking participant attendance and feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce timely reports on the Office of Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion budget and operations.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and process travel reimbursements for team members.
  • Monitor the physical environment of the office and ensure that equipment and supplies are in good working order.
  • Foster a culture of belonging and respect by promoting open communication, empathy, and mutual understanding.
  • Uphold confidentiality and care when handling sensitive information or concerns related to diversity, opportunity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion with an understanding of the unique challenges of historically underrepresented populations in higher education.
  • Previous administrative experience in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with good judgment in handling inquiries, referrals, and requests for information.

Additional Considerations

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends when given satisfactory advanced notice.
  • Experience creating and posting content for social media platforms.
