Founded in 1913, Electric Motor Shop stands as a leading electrical contractor, motor repair facility, and electrical supply wholesale distributor. Our advanced repair center provides comprehensive motor and pump repair services, including rewinding, with 24-hour service availability. Our supply division boasts one of the largest inventories in Central California, while our licensed contracting division is equipped to handle projects of varying scales, from custom panel design to PLC programming and transformer installations.


ROLE SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the payroll operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the precise and timely processing of payroll and financial data for multiple companies, as well as engaging in daily payroll data entry tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer weekly payroll, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and on schedule.
  • Review and audit time cards, verifying data accuracy and liaising with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage garnishment orders, including child support and levies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll in a prompt manner.
  • Update employee information in the payroll system as necessary.
  • Handle advance payments, terminations, and other off-cycle payments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end payroll reporting.
  • Distribute weekly payroll checks to the appropriate managers.
  • Assist with the benefits open enrollment process.
  • Generate weekly journal entries and payroll reports.
  • Prepare and submit weekly 401k contributions.
  • Maintain HR and payroll documentation.
  • Keep the EMS attendance calendar updated daily.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding sensitive payroll information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional college education is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles, human resources, and payroll practices.
  • Experience with payroll and accounting software, preferably Isolved.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
