Founded in 1913, Electric Motor Shop stands as a leading electrical contractor, motor repair facility, and electrical supply wholesale distributor. Our advanced repair center provides comprehensive motor and pump repair services, including rewinding, with 24-hour service availability. Our supply division boasts one of the largest inventories in Central California, while our licensed contracting division is equipped to handle industrial projects of all sizes, including custom panel design, installation, PLC programming, AC drives, and transformer installations.
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist oversees all facets of payroll management. This role ensures the precise and timely processing and documentation of payroll and financial data for multiple companies, while actively participating in daily payroll data entry tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer weekly payroll, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Input, review, and audit time cards, verifying data accuracy and collaborating with supervisors to resolve discrepancies.
- Establish, process, and monitor garnishment orders, including child support and levies.
- Address and resolve employee inquiries promptly.
- Update and manage employee information within the payroll system.
- Facilitate advance, termination, and other off-cycle payments.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end reporting.
- Sort and distribute weekly payroll checks to designated managers.
- Assist with employee benefits open enrollment.
- Generate and prepare weekly journal entries and payroll reports.
- Prepare and transmit weekly 401(k) contributions.
- File HR and payroll documentation appropriately.
- Maintain and update the attendance calendar daily.
- Uphold a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The qualifications listed below are representative of the skills and experience required for this position:
- High school diploma or GED; college education is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles, human resources, and payroll practices.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software, preferably Isolved.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
