Founded in 1913, Electric Motor Shop stands out as a leading electrical contractor, motor repair facility, and electrical supply wholesale distributor. Our advanced repair center provides comprehensive motor and pump repair services, including rewinding, with 24-hour service availability. Our supply division boasts one of the largest inventory warehouses in Central California, complemented by a fully licensed contracting division capable of handling projects of varying scales, including custom panel design, installation, PLC programming, AC drives, and transformer installations.


ROLE SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist is tasked with overseeing all facets of the payroll process. This role ensures the precise and timely processing and documentation of payroll and financial data for multiple companies, alongside engaging in daily payroll data entry activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer weekly payroll, managing workflows to guarantee all payroll transactions are executed accurately and punctually.
  • Input, audit, and verify time card data, collaborating with supervisors and managers to rectify any discrepancies.
  • Establish, process, and monitor garnishment orders (e.g., child support, levies).
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries promptly.
  • Update and manage employee information within the payroll system.
  • Process advances, terminations, and other off-cycle payments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting.
  • Sort and distribute weekly payroll checks to the relevant managers.
  • Assist with employee benefits open enrollment.
  • Generate and prepare weekly journal entries and payroll reports.
  • Prepare and transmit weekly 401k contributions.
  • File HR and payroll documentation appropriately.
  • Maintain and update the attendance calendar daily.
  • Uphold a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the skills and experience necessary to perform this role:

  • High school diploma or GED; college education is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles, human resources, and payroll practices.
  • Experience with accounting and payroll software, preferably Isolved.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Work Environment:

Key points regarding the environmental demands and work setting for this position include:

  • Required to utilize motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, writing, etc.) for most of the workday.
