About the Role

Rhode Island Energy is seeking a highly skilled Natural Gas Transportation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our gas scheduling team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and reliable transportation of natural gas to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nomination and Scheduling: You will be responsible for nominating and confirming natural gas flows on interstate pipeline electronic bulletin boards (EBBs) in compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations.
  • Capacity Release and Imbalance Management: You will identify and post transportation and storage capacity available for release or subject to our mandatory capacity assignment program, and actively reconcile and manage volume imbalances resulting from differences between nominated and confirmed volumes.
  • Gas Scheduling and Optimization: You will work closely with our gas trading team to identify pipeline and storage transactions that optimize our natural gas supply portfolio in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: You will maintain strong relationships with counterparts, including our accounting function, and provide training to other Gas Procurement team members on gas scheduling and usage of internal and external EBBs.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of gas scheduling experience for a natural gas market participant, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to work with detailed natural gas price and gas contract data, and proficiency in computer models, database applications, and complex Excel spreadsheet models.
