Material Transport Specialist

Viaero Fiber Networks is in search of a dedicated Material Transport Specialist responsible for the effective delivery, loading, and unloading of materials at various project locations. This role includes maintaining an accurate inventory of materials stored in staging areas and ensuring site cleanliness as required throughout the project lifecycle. The position may involve extended hours due to the geographical nature of the projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with office personnel and suppliers to schedule and coordinate deliveries.
- Monitoring and documenting all inventories unloaded at staging areas, including scanning and uploading Bills of Lading back to the office.
- Loading materials from the warehouse and transporting them to project sites using vehicles such as box trucks, pickups, or semi-trailers.
- Handling various materials, including Fiber Optic cable reels, conduits, vaults, and returning empty conduit reels.
- Operating equipment, which may include box trucks with dollies, dual pickups with goosenecks, semi-trailers, excavators for loading, skid steers, and telehandlers.
- Assisting in site clean-up by transporting materials back to the warehouse or project locations.
- Tracking project materials and conducting cycle counts.
- Ensuring all delivery vehicles are maintained and kept clean.
- Performing additional tasks as directed by supervisors or management.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a Class A CDL is required or must be obtained within six weeks of employment.
- Completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all equipment used during shifts.
- Successful completion of a DOT Physical examination.
- Minimum age of 21 years, with a clean driving record and ability to pass pre-employment checks, including substance screening and background checks.
- Experience operating Telehandlers, Dollies, and Forklifts is necessary.
- Comfortable with hauling loads that exceed standard DOT limits, requiring an oversized load permit.
- Experience in construction or heavy equipment operation is advantageous.
- A collaborative attitude and commitment to promoting a safe work environment.
- Proficiency in GPS technology for efficient site navigation.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, including familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including snow, rain, mud, wind, and extreme temperatures.
- Capability to work extended hours during the construction season, including occasional overnight stays.
- Ability to perform diverse labor-intensive tasks, such as dismantling empty conduit reels for vendor returns.
- Knowledge of proper truck loading techniques and load distribution in compliance with DOT regulations.
