We are seeking a Commercial Gas Connection Advisor to join our Customer Gas Connections team in Rhode Island.

Role Purpose and Responsibilities:


The Commercial Gas Connection Advisor will play a crucial role within the Customer Gas Connections Team, engaging directly with both Commercial and Residential clients requesting new gas connections.

The primary function of this position is to serve as the initial point of contact for customers, providing clear information on the gas service application process and assessing the feasibility of gas service for their needs.

They will guide customers through the gas connection journey, collaborate with teams responsible for planning and safely installing new gas services, address customer concerns, and implement innovative strategies to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

Delivering exceptional customer service.


Acting as the main contact for various towns within a designated area, offering customer information, setting expectations, and clarifying the gas service process.


Assessing customer requirements by running basic models to determine gas pipe sizing and costs for new service types and reviewing relevant maps.

Processing customer inquiries in work request and billing systems.

Rhode Island Energy currently employs a hybrid work model.

The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work remotely but must be prepared to visit the office as needed or upon request, as well as conduct site visits to customer locations to accurately assess conditions for optimal installation solutions.

All necessary software and customer communications can be accessed via a provided laptop. A reliable broadband internet connection is required at home. Microsoft Teams and Zoom are utilized for virtual collaboration with the team and colleagues.

Rhode Island Energy maintains a health and safety protocol, and the position may necessitate in-person attendance at designated locations.

Essential Duties:

Serve as the primary liaison for Commercial and Residential customers. Ensure clear communication, resolve customer issues, and facilitate the delivery of new services throughout the Customer Gas Connection process.

Manage customer projects from initiation to completion, ensuring a seamless experience for Rhode Island Energy clients.

Understand the gas service construction process for both Commercial and Residential clients and educate customers accordingly.

Provide outstanding customer service, anticipate customer needs, and effectively de-escalate issues.

Process gas service agreements, invoices, utilize various data tracking systems, and learn new data management tools.


Build and maintain effective relationships with other business process stakeholders and local teams to support customer request fulfillment.

This includes participating in local or virtual planning or construction meetings and finding effective solutions to Commercial and Residential customer challenges.

Identify and implement strategies to enhance customer trust and streamline processes, creating operational efficiencies. Utilize a process excellence approach to communicate concerns, identify root causes, and develop and implement solutions.


Support team objectives, including cross-training on various responsibilities, assisting or leading analysis or reporting, driving process improvements, and representing the team in cross-functional meetings.


Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required.

3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree.

5 years of experience with an Associate's degree.

A High School diploma with 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing electric or gas role, design, or construction role, or 5+ years in customer service.

Exhibit a consistent approach in dealing with individuals and take personal responsibility for addressing issues and concerns.

Possess a solid understanding of Rhode Island Energy's electric or gas operations and policies from both residential and commercial perspectives.

Proficient in software necessary for data entry.
