Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinic Office Assistant to join our team at FirstHealth of the Carolinas. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients to the office and complete the check-in process, ensuring accurate patient information and insurance details are loaded into our Epic EMR system.
  • Verify prior authorizations for visits and obtain required signatures and co-payments.
  • Balance daily payment entries against computer totals and discuss balances with patients at check-in and/or check-out time.
  • Schedule follow-up and referral appointments and manage no-show appointments to ensure patients are not lost to follow-up.
  • Answer phones and manage communications with patients, providers, staff, and insurance companies.
  • Effectively communicate and document patient information via Epic EMR system.
  • Manage patient schedules, incoming and outgoing referrals, and obtain insurance authorizations for special testing.
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks as assigned by manager.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree preferred, but not required.
  • Three years of experience in a physicians office with previous scheduling, registration, and collections experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Epic EMR, office skills, medical terminology, and insurance terminology is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills required.
  • Self-starter with a friendly, outgoing personality and excellent customer service skills required.
