Position Overview
The Nursing Support Specialist will deliver essential nursing services, including direct patient care, assessments, and coordination of healthcare services for residents. This role involves regular interaction with patients, families, nursing staff, physicians, and other departments as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and orientation for newly hired or less experienced staff to ensure effective task completion.
- Facilitate individual and group therapeutic activities, including reality orientation and sensory stimulation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to share insights regarding patients' physical conditions and behavioral traits.
- Maintain the integrity of medical devices while assisting patients with personal hygiene.
- Monitor and document vital signs and alert professional staff to any significant changes.
- Conduct safety rounds to ensure the well-being of patients and report any unusual incidents.
- Assist patients in attending social and medical appointments.
- Implement interventions to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Delaware certification as a Nursing Assistant or be eligible for certification.
Additional Information
This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement and requires a satisfactory criminal background check as well as pre-employment drug testing.
