About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pediatrician to join our Child Abuse Protection Team at VCU Health - MCV Physicians. As a Child Abuse Pediatrician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to patients and families affected by abuse and neglect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Education: Provide guidance and mentorship to residents, medical students, and other learners in the subspecialty area of child abuse.
  • Research: Conduct research in quality and safety in pediatric care, secure revenue through grants and contracts, and serve as a research mentor to other team members.
  • Service: Participate in departmental and School of Medicine level committees, particularly those related to quality and safety, and provide service at the local, regional, and national levels.
  • Clinical Care: Serve as a Child Abuse Pediatrician for the Department of Pediatrics, providing medical direction for off-site healthcare facilities evaluating abuse and neglect victims.
Requirements
  • Board certification or eligibility in Child Abuse Pediatrics.
  • Experience in clinical care of patients ages birth to 21.
  • Experience in education of house-staff, medical students, and others.
  • Experience in research.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
  • Quality Improvement training/experience in general pediatrics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced training in clinical research and/or epidemiology.
  • Success in securing research grants and contracts.
  • Experience in setting up unique systems of care for children who have experienced trauma in the setting of abuse and neglect.
