In alignment with the vision, mission, values, and objectives of Saint-Gobain Group, the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in enhancing plant performance to achieve exceptional standards in safety, environmental responsibility, quality, service, and efficiency, all while adhering to financial internal controls.

This role is pivotal in guiding the production team to optimize production and operational efficiencies while maintaining safety, quality, service, and cost benchmarks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports directly to the Production Manager and collaborates with the Performance Improvement Manager on process engineering initiatives. The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor serves as the acting Production Manager during their absence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing, coaching, mentoring, training, and managing the performance of both salaried and hourly production staff as necessary.
  • Exercising considerable discretion and independent judgment within established policies and procedures.
  • Managing labor costs and variances through effective scheduling based on production demands.
  • Ensuring raw material usage aligns with product Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Coordinating production to meet customer requirements while optimizing maintenance and project implementation schedules.
  • Collaborating with Supply Chain to ensure Master Production Schedule (MPS) and streamline processes are optimized for working capital.

Ensures a safe working environment while striving to be the preferred supplier of quality products and services, aiming for world-class yield, availability, and reliability.

Continuously assesses the workplace for safety risks and ensures that behavioral safety initiatives are met.

Maintains product quality control across all production areas, including:

  • Compliance with quality control plans.
  • Management of defective products.
  • Support for product and process trials.

Ensures environmental controls, audits, and checks are implemented, and that incident investigations and reporting are conducted thoroughly.

Directly supervises a team of shift leaders and fosters a high-performance culture through engagement and collaboration:

  • Models the company's vision, mission, and values, ensuring alignment among employees.
  • Promotes organizational health within the facility, implementing standard methods for conflict resolution and team dynamics.
  • Ensures the Area Improvement Board (AIB) process is active and effective.

Guarantees the safe, efficient, and effective use of labor, materials, equipment, and in-process inventories in the production of all products.

Conducts regular performance evaluations with team members, focusing on continuous improvement and compliance.

Utilizes standard processes to identify root causes of issues and accurately report losses while achieving improvements.

Applies technical expertise to mentor others and manages the HERCA tracking system to address human error losses within production teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum knowledge and skills include:

  • Six to eight years of professional experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Three to four years of supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean and World Class principles.
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills with a results-driven mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
