The Opportunity

The role of Portfolio Manager is pivotal in establishing a new Portfolio Management function that aligns with Ally's strategic priorities in Deposits Operations. This position offers a unique chance to utilize the successful candidate's expertise to shape the standards and methodologies that will underpin this new capability. The role involves collaboration with business, digital, and technology leaders across various levels, as well as engagement with external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Establish and manage a Portfolio Management function, including processes, tools, metrics, and documentation.
  2. Oversee Portfolio Demand and Capacity Management, including resource onboarding and offboarding, planning, and delivery excellence.
  3. Develop and maintain an integrated plan for Deposit Operations, identifying process improvements and managing issues and risks.
  4. Create quantitative criteria for assessing new and existing projects.
  5. Consolidate project statuses into executive-level reports, including risk assessments and readiness plans.
  6. Organize and communicate dependencies across strategic initiatives, ensuring effective communication protocols.
  7. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish metrics for tracking success against service level agreements.
  8. Identify and document best practices while ensuring compliance with established methodologies.
  9. Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to report on project statuses and address any issues promptly.
  10. Lead and motivate project teams to ensure effective management of scope, schedule, and budget.
  11. Implement project management standards and conduct audits for compliance.
  12. Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability within the Integrated Business Execution team.
  13. Maintain communication with key technology and business leaders regarding project activities and priorities.
  14. Support stakeholder engagement across various departments, facilitating meetings critical to project success.
  15. Participate in governance processes to communicate impacts and priorities effectively.
  16. Assist in preparing executive communications for governance routines.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management, implementation, or management consulting.
  • Preferred supervisory experience of 2+ years.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, CSM, or ITIL are preferred.
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and consult with leadership effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with senior executives.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with senior business leaders.
  • Experience in agile project environments.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and software development life cycles.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Project.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
