Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a crucial role in executing specific components of a treatment strategy for assigned youth in Montgomery County and/or Delaware County. The BHT is also tasked with instructing and reinforcing positive, adaptive skills, ensuring these skills are transferable to family or educational settings. Services are delivered in various environments including schools, homes, and community locations, either individually or in group settings.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Possess 2+ years of experience in behavioral health service provision.
- Complete a 40-hour training aligned with the RBT Task List, certified by a BCBA or BCaBA.
- Hold a behavioral health or behavioral analysis certification from an NCCA or ANSI accredited organization.
- Possess one of the following certifications: BCaBA, RBT, or BCAT.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of clinical guidelines and service expectations.
- Capability to exercise sound judgment.
- Aptitude for managing multiple tasks and work-related stress.
- Ability to establish rapport with individuals.
Highlights of the role include:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Engage in regular supervision in accordance with program policies and regulatory standards.
- Complete progress notes and encounter forms promptly.
- Adhere to the rules of the environment where services are rendered.
- Support youth in exhibiting appropriate behaviors.
- Encourage the use of adaptive, pro-social behaviors through consistent reinforcement.
- Oversee and facilitate youth participation in activities, providing necessary support.
- Deliver skill instruction as per the youth's Individual Treatment Plan (ITP).
- Conduct crisis intervention sessions as required.
- Employ the least restrictive and intrusive methods to address behavioral issues.
- Contribute to the development of the youth's ITP.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the treatment team for feedback on the youth's progress.
- BHTs are expected to participate in 2-4 hours of supervision monthly, depending on regulatory requirements.
- Supervision includes discussions on interventions, progress towards goals, and necessary adjustments to the ITP.
- New hires without prior BHT experience must undergo 6 hours of onsite supervision before independent service provision.
- Direct observation of service delivery is required every 2-4 months.
- All new hires must complete mandated orientation and training sessions.
- Individuals without prior BHT experience will undergo training on various essential topics.
- Experienced BHTs are required to complete at least 20 hours of annual training relevant to their job functions.
- Services are provided in family homes, schools, and community settings.
- Travel between work sites may be necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work-related stress.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Physical capability to navigate stairs and lift up to 20 pounds.
