Job Overview

The Community Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing community understanding of issues related to domestic violence and adolescent relationship abuse. This position is responsible for delivering age-appropriate educational content to various groups, including educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and youth-centric communities. The aim is to engage in proactive programming that mitigates the occurrence of intimate partner violence across different community sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a point of contact for educational institutions and youth organizations seeking presentations and resources on domestic violence and teen dating violence.
  • Collaborate with faith communities, local organizations, and businesses to provide informative sessions and speakers on domestic violence topics.
  • Design and deliver tailored training and educational materials for diverse audiences.
  • Facilitate established educational programs for middle and high school students, as well as young adults in colleges throughout the region. Organize and lead training sessions for parents and professionals working with youth on addressing issues of teen dating violence.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as education, public health, social work, criminal justice, or human services, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Preferred knowledge of domestic violence issues.
  • Strong ability to engage with both young and mature audiences, coupled with public speaking proficiency.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to various presentation locations.
