Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Oncology Referral Coordinator to join our team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our Referral Liaison Service, you will play a vital role in coordinating physician referrals and ensuring seamless communication between medical and surgical oncology services and community-based physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate physician referrals and facilitate access to subspecialty services for patients referred to MedStar Hospitals and Ambulatory Centers.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure prompt scheduling, rapid transfer, and continuing follow-up care for patients.
  • Act as a patient advocate, identifying and eliminating barriers to care, and ensuring that patients receive timely and effective treatment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community-based physicians and healthcare providers to promote MedStar Health's clinical services and programs.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures related to the role, and participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 1-2 years of professional nursing experience, with a focus on oncology or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of hospital operations and community resources, with the ability to work autonomously with limited direct supervision.
