Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Coordinator Oncology to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities with the Attending Physician and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect care to patients and families, evaluating the quality and appropriateness of care delivery.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with physicians and all disciplines involved in patient care to ensure timely progress toward the best clinical outcome.
  • Provide extensive patient education regarding disease process, treatment plan, and symptom management.
  • Assist patients and families through the disease process and cancer diagnosis continuum.
  • Collaborate to assist patients with authorizing and precertification of insurance coverage for tests as ordered as part of the treatment plan.
  • Serve as a problem solver, focusing on operational issues that may impede patient outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Triage phone calls and patient portal inquiries, providing consultations and follow-up as needed.
  • Report the status of progress and recommend/implement appropriate measures for Performance Improvement (PI).
  • Assist with new employee orientation and complete competency assessments and continuing education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant clinical experience required; 1-2 years of ambulatory care and oncology experience preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required.
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
  • OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification within 1 Year preferred.
Compensation

This position has a hiring range of $87,094.40 to $149,094.40.
