Oncology Referral Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Referral Coordinator to join our team at HH MedStar Health Inc. This role will play a critical part in facilitating the coordination of physician referrals and general communication for and between medical and surgical oncology services and community-based physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate physician referrals and general communication for and between medical and surgical oncology services and community-based physicians.
- Provide direct access to subspecialty services for subspecialty physician consultation, hospital admission, and urgent/emergent care.
- Function as a physician advocate, facilitating prompt scheduling, rapid transfer, and continuing follow-up care for patients referred to MedStar Hospitals and Ambulatory Centers.
- Work with the interdisciplinary team throughout the continuum of care to facilitate diagnostic testing, consultation, treatment, and follow-up.
- Promote MedStar Health's clinical services, physicians, and programs within the medical community to increase patient referrals from existing providers and secure new business from non-referring physicians.
- Monitor patient progress and may participate in selected quality improvement activities.
- Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures related to the role.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
- 1-2 years of professional nursing experience required; 1-2 years of previous outpatient/community service preferred.
- Experience in a sub-specialty (e.g., GI, Neurology, Oncology) preferred.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia (DC) upon hire required.
