Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Referral Coordinator to join our team at HH MedStar Health Inc. This role will play a critical part in facilitating the coordination of physician referrals and general communication for and between medical and surgical oncology services and community-based physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate physician referrals and general communication for and between medical and surgical oncology services and community-based physicians.
  • Provide direct access to subspecialty services for subspecialty physician consultation, hospital admission, and urgent/emergent care.
  • Function as a physician advocate, facilitating prompt scheduling, rapid transfer, and continuing follow-up care for patients referred to MedStar Hospitals and Ambulatory Centers.
  • Work with the interdisciplinary team throughout the continuum of care to facilitate diagnostic testing, consultation, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Promote MedStar Health's clinical services, physicians, and programs within the medical community to increase patient referrals from existing providers and secure new business from non-referring physicians.
  • Monitor patient progress and may participate in selected quality improvement activities.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures related to the role.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 1-2 years of professional nursing experience required; 1-2 years of previous outpatient/community service preferred.
  • Experience in a sub-specialty (e.g., GI, Neurology, Oncology) preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia (DC) upon hire required.
