Position Title: Electromechanical Maintenance Specialist II

Reporting To: Engineering Manager

Work Schedule: Available for both day (6:30am-6:30pm) and night shifts (6:30pm-6:30am) on a 2-2-3 rotation.

Position Summary

The Electromechanical Maintenance Specialist II is responsible for providing electrical support and upkeep for the facility and the machinery utilized in the production process. This role is crucial in ensuring that all equipment operates at peak efficiency to meet production demands. The Specialist is tasked with diagnosing and resolving machinery failures by utilizing appropriate wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematic drawings, operator manuals, and manufacturer specifications. A high level of responsibility and accountability is expected, with an emphasis on effective and efficient task execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design and installation of electrical wiring, components, and equipment in alignment with facility requirements, machine specifications, and relevant industry standards.
  • Inspect electrical systems, machinery, and equipment components during repair and preventive maintenance for defects such as excessive wear or damage, and perform necessary repairs, replacements, adjustments, and alignments.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, modification, and repair/rebuilding of machinery, equipment, and systems, including:
  1. Electrical systems such as fuses, contacts, switches, and relays.
  2. Electronic systems including VFDs, servos, and PLCs.
  3. Hydraulic systems encompassing cylinders, pumps, valves, and motors.
  4. Mechanical systems involving bearings, belts, and drives.
  5. HVAC systems including thermostats, heat exchangers, and blower motors.
  6. Various machinery and equipment such as converting machines, printing presses, and air compressors.
  7. Facility systems including lighting, overhead doors, and plumbing.
Collaborate with operators to observe, assess, and test machinery and equipment operations to accurately diagnose issues and confirm repair effectiveness.Assign IP addresses and communication parameters to I/O modules and control devices.Familiarize with the functions and basic operations of machinery and equipment used in manufacturing.Identify the locations of all critical controls within the plant and reset basic faults as needed.Adhere to all safety and Lockout/Tagout protocols to ensure safe repair practices.Disassemble and reassemble machinery and equipment per manufacturer specifications.Perform routine quality checks and preventive maintenance on facility and manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal operation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to ensure safe and effective job performance.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
  • Experience with measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and multimeters.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment, parts, systems, and tools used in maintenance and repair.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools such as drills, impacts, and grinders.
  • Ability to accurately interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic drawings and schematics.
  • Competence in using material and resource planning systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and analytical capabilities.
  • Commitment to promoting safe work practices and compliance with all safety policies.
  • Ability to complete tasks and projects within designated timeframes.

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree in electrical or mechanical fields or equivalent experience gained through on-the-job training.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and robotics is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to walk, talk, sit, stand, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work typically occurs in a manufacturing environment, with some tasks potentially outside.
  • Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel/composite toed shoes, and hearing protection is required on the production floor.
  • Mechanics may be exposed to various physical conditions, including proximity to moving parts and electrical currents.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication and detect warning signals or equipment malfunctions.

Travel Requirements

This position may involve occasional overnight travel and travel during the workday.
