Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY


The Youth Program Coordinator, as a vital member of the YMCA Center team, will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and fostering relationship-building skills to cultivate an inviting atmosphere at the YMCA.

Under the guidance of the Site Director, the Youth Program Coordinator is tasked with supporting the execution of the OST program, which encompasses behavior management and ensuring participant safety.

The individual will also embody the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in every aspect of their engagement with the YMCA.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of daily activities and in-service days, in alignment with YMCA philosophy and state licensing standards.

Implement risk management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

Incorporate the YMCA character development program into daily activities.

Support the Supervisor by observing behavior, activities, and engagement levels for groups of up to 15 youth.

Proactively maintain cleanliness and/or repair program areas; manage supplies and equipment.

Attend all training sessions, staff meetings, and in-service events without exception.

Adhere to the dress code; ensure staff compliance with uniforms, name badges, and appropriate footwear.

Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on location needs and events.

Be knowledgeable about and supportive of the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, as well as general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access protocols, membership policies, and emergency plans.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role; reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill essential functions.

Regularly required to use a computer for extended periods and communicate effectively using a computer and phone/smart device.

Frequently required to sit, reach, and navigate the work environment.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and focus.

Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate.

Qualifications:
Minimum age of 18 years.

High school diploma or equivalent.


A minimum of 3 months (460 hours) experience working with children under 13 years of age is required; experience in a youth-centered educational environment is preferred. Verified experience prior to hire.

Exceptional skills in group management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.

Experience in creating interactive and educational activities, youth development, academic enrichment, and arts.

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on location needs and events.

CPR and First Aid certifications are required within 30 days of hire.
