Key Responsibilities
Lighting Design Duties:
Develop and implement lighting designs for various dance productions. Act as the primary contact for visiting performance groups. Collaborate with guest designers and technical teams to realize production visions. Facilitate communication between guest companies and departmental leadership during production preparations.
Stage Management Duties:
Construct detailed technical schedules in partnership with departmental leadership. Organize crew assignments and production timelines. Conduct recruitment sessions for student crew participation. Guide and supervise student crews during production activities. Attend regular meetings to coordinate crew logistics for upcoming events. Provide logistical and technical support for performances held off-campus. Mentor students in lighting design and technical theater practices. Educate students on the lighting design process and production protocols. Foster a positive and professional working environment, encouraging student engagement in technical theater. Train students on the safe and effective use of production equipment.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in technical theater and lighting design. A degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience. Comprehensive understanding of technical direction for dance and theatrical performances. Demonstrated ability to create effective lighting designs for dance. Experience in managing student crews and providing training. Strong stage management capabilities. Proficiency in developing and managing production schedules. Expertise in operating and maintaining lighting and sound equipment. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by production schedules.
Position Details:
This is a part-time hourly position without benefits. Compliance with work hour regulations for part-time employees is required.
