The Volunteer Programs Specialist is a key member of the Student Engagement & Enrollment Services team, responsible for coordinating and supervising volunteer programs, including the Monarch Pantry and Monarch Clothing Closet. This role requires strong customer service skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and supervise volunteer programs, including recruitment, training, and evaluation of volunteers
- Develop and implement effective customer service strategies to ensure a positive experience for students, faculty, and staff
- Assist with administrative functions, such as record keeping, inventory management, and budget monitoring
- Coordinate logistics for office-sponsored events, including the Monarch Pantry and Monarch Clothing Closet
- Assist with the implementation and staffing of service events, both on and off-campus
- Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with individuals of varying skill levels, cultural backgrounds, and perspectives
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and track budget expenditures
- Demonstrated ability to research and acquire items with fiscal responsibility
- Considerable office and customer service experience working in higher education, human services, event management, or a related area
- Basic working experience performing managerial, supervisory, or advising responsibilities
- Considerable use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Some experience with departmental purchasing and acquisitions
The employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing as directed by their supervisor. This may include working from a remote location.
