Job Summary

The Senior Laboratory Manager is a key member of the NYC Health Hospitals team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the chemistry division. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the chemistry division, including staffing, budgeting, and instrumentation decisions.
  • Develop and implement procedures for quality control and assurance, including CAP and NYSDOH proficiency testing.
  • Train and supervise laboratory staff, including technologists and subordinates.
  • Prepare and revise procedure manuals for the chemistry division.
  • Coordinate all required tasks and studies for the chemistry lab, including CAP and NYSDOH requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all chemistry instruments and validate results into the LIS system.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control and safety procedures at all times.
  • Stay up-to-date with new procedures and regulations, and implement changes as necessary.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by 24 credits in chemistry, chemical engineering, or forensic science.
  • Three years of satisfactory full-time experience in chemical work, or equivalent education and experience.
