KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize specialized educational methodologies and techniques during lessons to enhance the development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language abilities, cognitive functions, and memory retention.
  • Deliver instruction in academic subjects employing diverse strategies such as phonetics, multisensory learning, and repetition to cater to the unique needs and interests of students.
  • Instruct students in socially acceptable behaviors as outlined in their individualized education programs (IEPs) through positive behavioral support strategies.
  • Adapt the general education curriculum for students with disabilities using a range of instructional methods and technologies.
  • Design and implement activities that provide a balanced approach to instruction, demonstration, and hands-on learning, allowing students to observe, inquire, and explore.
  • Establish and uphold behavioral guidelines and procedures to maintain a conducive learning environment for all students.
  • Engage with parents to discuss their children's academic progress and identify priorities for their educational needs.
  • Collaborate with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and other professionals to create individualized education programs (IEPs) aimed at fostering students' educational, physical, and social/emotional growth.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive student records and prepare reports on student progress and activities, in compliance with laws and district policies.
  • Set clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, effectively communicating these goals to students.
  • Develop strategies for effective communication, monitoring, and follow-up for students in inclusive classroom settings.
  • Provide crisis intervention support as necessary for students and those in inclusive environments.
  • Assist in the collection of data to inform appropriate classroom interventions.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team as needed.
  • Aid in the preparation of data for local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Maintain professional growth by engaging in staff development activities, curriculum planning meetings, and other professional learning opportunities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
