Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Lynchburg City Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with special needs, ensuring they receive the support and accommodations necessary to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide instruction and support to students in inclusive classrooms, adapting curriculum to meet their unique needs.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and parents to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet their changing needs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Virginia teaching license with a special education endorsement in general curriculum K-12.
  • Leadership and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, and staff.
Working Conditions

This is a 10-month position with full benefits. The physical demands of this job include frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, and using hands to finger, handle, type, or feel. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
