Job Title: Adult Education Teacher

Lynchburg City Schools is seeking a qualified Adult Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality instruction to adult learners, promoting academic achievement and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prepare engaging and relevant lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Implement a range of instructional strategies, including group and individualized instruction, to ensure student success.
  • Administer assessments and track student progress, using data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with students to set goals, develop learning plans, and monitor progress, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting respect and empathy among students and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators, providing regular updates on student progress and program developments.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in adult education.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Virginia Teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Adult Education endorsement preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of GED content areas and ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions:

The Adult Education Teacher will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, interacting with students, colleagues, and administrators on a regular basis. The position requires strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
