Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Rivermont School in Lynchburg, VA. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in the success of our students with special needs, including those associated with autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges, and difficulty learning in a traditional school setting.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support services, including academic instruction, behavioral interventions, and social skills training.
  • Use research-based strategies to promote student learning and independence.
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional plans as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Virginia Department of Education License, License Eligible, or Provisional License Eligible.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience working with children with behavior/learning disorders is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • A positive can-do attitude.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License is preferred.
