Position Summary: We are seeking a Payroll Manager who will be instrumental in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of our organization. This role is crucial for guaranteeing that our employees receive accurate and timely compensation. The Payroll Manager will oversee all payroll operations, ensuring that payroll expenses and taxes are processed correctly and punctually. Leading a dedicated payroll team and collaborating with various departments will be essential components of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate regional payroll alignment and integration by comprehending local payroll practices across multiple states.
  • Supervise the payroll team, ensuring the timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll across various states, while aligning with the objectives set by senior management.
  • Assist in interpreting and executing pay policies and calculations to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Drive the review, design, and documentation of payroll processes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Create and maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the payroll department.
  • Act as a liaison between Payroll and Finance departments.
  • Manage relationships with payroll and benefits vendors to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Generate, review, and distribute payroll reports to support financial audits and compliance reviews.
  • Analyze payroll reports for accuracy and implement necessary adjustments through established procedures.
  • Prepare payroll reports for ad-hoc needs and ensure accurate general ledger entries.
  • Oversee the payroll process to ensure timely payments in accordance with tax regulations.
  • Encourage best practices within the team to maximize efficiency and consistency.
  • Conduct weekly payroll audits to confirm accuracy.
  • Assist with payroll audits related to salary and minimum wage compliance.
  • Approve calculations of employee taxes and employer contributions to ensure payroll liabilities are accurately determined.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies to maintain balanced payroll accounts.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on prevailing wage regulations.
  • Provide payroll information in response to inquiries and requests.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional organizations.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results.
  • Engage in special payroll projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations across multiple states.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now system is required.
  • Prior experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll is preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or management experience is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and database management.

  • Ability to perform standard office tasks, including:
    • Remaining seated for extended periods.

    • Participating in filing tasks.
    • Lifting and carrying office supplies (up to 25 pounds).
  • Regularly required to communicate effectively while performing job duties.
