A successful Senior Pastry Chef is essential to the team, possessing a diverse skill set and a proven track record of delivering exceptional culinary creations.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly knowledgeable about all menu offerings and capable of producing consistent, high-quality dishes in fast-paced and demanding environments.
- Assist with inventory management and procurement to ensure the kitchen operates within sustainable food cost parameters.
- Monitor waste, cooking temperatures, and quality to minimize additional expenses, educating all line staff on product costs and their impact on the company's profit and loss.
- Oversee production and execution of a-la-carte dishes, including innovative weekend feast concepts and team meals.
- Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks as necessary, ensuring adherence to proper procedures for clocking in and out for shifts and breaks.
- Support the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef with end-of-shift reports and handover documentation.
- Uphold company goals and deliver a consistent experience aligned with Soho House standards for service.
- Act as a positive influence under pressure, fostering a welcoming work environment that enhances team morale.
- Train and mentor new and existing team members on kitchen operations.
- Daily tasks also include preparing food items in various kitchen stations while accommodating allergy requests and specific dish modifications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Essential Skills/Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of culinary experience with demonstrated leadership in previous roles.
- Proven capability to manage all kitchen stations effectively.
- Valid food handler's certification.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and motivational skills to build professional relationships with all kitchen staff and leadership.
- Proactive team player who can work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Creative flair to develop original recipes from scratch.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, typically 8 hours.
- Fast-paced movements are necessary to navigate the kitchen efficiently.
- Must be capable of lifting, pulling, or carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.
- Occasional kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing may be required.
