We are a rapidly expanding Manufacturing firm seeking a Lead Cost Accountant to enhance our finance team. We are looking for a candidate with a solid background in government grant work and/or a manufacturing setting, possessing over 5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Job Costing, internal/external audits, and preparing monthly and annual financial closings.

Position Overview:

We are in search of a motivated and experienced Lead Cost Accountant to join our team within the Manufacturing sector. This is a remarkable opportunity for an individual with a robust background in cost accounting to contribute significantly in a thriving and innovative atmosphere.

The successful candidate will oversee all facets of cost accounting, including inventory valuation, cost analysis, and budgeting. Collaboration with the finance team and various departments will be essential to ensure precise financial reporting and decision-making support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all elements of cost accounting, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, product margin analysis, and manufacturing cost analysis.
  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documentation, and records.
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conducting research and performing analytical studies related to cost analyses and profitability.
  • Prepare, analyze, and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly gross margin analysis by product and customer type.
  • Assist in month-end closing processes, prepare necessary journal entries, and analyze inventory evaluations.
  • Support internal department reporting requirements, including audit schedules and tax schedules.
  • Coordinate with IT for system issues, maintenance, and development across various functions.
  • Ensure timely submission and accuracy of inventory and gross margin schedules to management.
  • Engage in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in the Manufacturing sector is essential.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems is necessary; SAP experience is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify and resolve issues promptly.
