Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated full-time Research Audiologist to assist the laboratories of Dr. Aaron Moberly and Dr. Terrin Tamati in NIH-funded research focusing on adult cochlear implant outcomes.

The Research Audiologist will collaborate closely with the Principal Investigators to oversee the development of structured protocols, manage participant recruitment and assessments, train research assistants, and handle the collection, evaluation, and management of participant data, including maintaining the RedCap database. Responsibilities also include authoring abstracts and manuscripts related to the research and contributing to grant proposal writing.

  • Preferred qualifications include experience with cochlear implants and human participant testing, as well as familiarity with behavioral experimental tasks and RedCap.

Preferred educational backgrounds include Hearing and Speech Sciences, Audiology, Psychology, Linguistics, or related fields. An AuD degree, PhD, or a combination of AuD/PhD is ideal.

CITI human subjects and GCP training will be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection: Collaborate with the principal investigator, laboratory staff, clinical audiologists, otologists, and other medical and research professionals on joint research initiatives.
  • Data Dissemination: Assist in the preparation and writing of manuscripts for publication.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on advancements in relevant research areas by reading professional literature, participating in journal clubs, and engaging in professional development activities.
  • Data Management: Perform data entry, management, and preliminary data analysis.
  • Equipment Calibration: Assist in the calibration of research equipment.
  • Supervision: Oversee students working in the laboratory.
  • Audiometric Testing: Conduct comprehensive audiometric evaluations, including pure tone and speech audiometry, middle-ear immittance measures, otoacoustic emissions, auditory evoked potentials, and hearing aid and cochlear implant fittings.
  • Psychoacoustic Experiments: Implement psychoacoustic experiments, including tonal detection and pitch discrimination.
  • Objective Auditory Function Assessment: Conduct experiments assessing auditory function through various objective measures.
  • Data Protection: Ensure organization and compliance with IRB regulations regarding source data protection.
