Otolaryngology Associates of Tennessee and Physicians Hearing Aid Center announce the availability of a 4 th year extern position for the academic year.

OAT has been providing a compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered model for otolaryngology and audiology in the heart of Music City for 80 years. Our office has 8 audiologists, 10 otolaryngologists, 3 nurse practitioners and 2 physician assistants that provide services at 2 busy practice locations including 2 medical offices and 2 private hearing aid centers in Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee.

Our audiologists are well respected by our physicians and enjoy all the practice benefits of working in a private clinical setting with the support of an extensive audiology group with strong leadership and mentoring experience. We administer a wide variety of audiology services for all ages including diagnostic audiologic assessments of all ear diseases, electrophysiology testing (ABR, OAE and ECoG) and diagnostic vestibular assessment (VNG, vHIT, SHIMP, oVEMP, cVEMP), hearing device dispensing (selection, fitting, troubleshooting, verification and validation), osseointegrated implants and rehabilitative services to all populations. This is a well-rounded, diverse clinical experience with the opportunity to collaborate with medical providers.

Other areas of focus will include tinnitus management, cerumen management, custom in-ear monitors, custom hunter, industrial and recreational hearing protection, business development, and marketing. We are also excited to offer the unique experience to help us build upon our recently started cochlear implant program. Travel is required for staffing of clinics.

The ideal candidate is someone with good interpersonal skills that works independently and efficiently without sacrificing accuracy. Applicants must have a strong desire to learn and grow.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
•Administer basic hearing evaluations

•Knowledge of current hearing and implantable device technology and programming software

•Troubleshooting of hearing and implantable devices

•Critical thinking and interpretation of information

•Good interpersonal skills

•Knowledge in advanced diagnostics Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
•Administer advanced hearing and vestibular evaluation

•Complex interpretation of electrophysiologic and vestibular test findings
