Position Overview:

The Corporate Controller plays a pivotal role in a rapidly expanding organization, overseeing numerous legal entities and managing substantial transaction volumes. This position is integral to the financial health and operational efficiency of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for the daily management of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll departments. This role requires direct oversight of the Accounting Manager, AP Manager, and Payroll Manager, as well as indirect supervision of the entire Accounting Department.


Strategic Oversight:

The Controller must be an experienced leader with the ability to think strategically, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. A hands-on approach is essential when necessary.


Daily and Weekly Accounting Functions:

- Collaborate with the CFO and other senior management to establish and achieve departmental goals.

- Provide mentorship and training to team members in the Accounting, AP, and Payroll departments, fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional growth.

- Lead initiatives to identify and implement accounting tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance departmental performance.

- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including financial institutions and industry professionals.

- Oversee daily cash management to ensure liquidity for operational needs.

- Develop and enforce a robust system of internal controls over financial transactions.

- Maintain an accurate chart of accounts to reflect all financial activities.


Monthly Accounting Responsibilities:

- Supervise the month-end closing process, ensuring timely completion of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.

- Assist in the financial assessment of significant capital projects for proper accounting treatment.

- Manage access to critical accounting software and banking platforms.

- Ensure compliance with federal grant accounting requirements.

- Guarantee timely and accurate reporting to investors and bondholders.


Annual Accounting Duties:

- Collaborate with the FP&A team to support external audits by providing necessary documentation and financial statements.

- Prepare and coordinate bond reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

- Facilitate the preparation of income tax returns for all legal entities.

- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax obligations.

- Oversee the renewal process for various insurance policies, including gathering required information and evaluating options.

- Assist in the annual budgeting process, providing insights based on historical data.

- Prepare Annual Financial Reports (AFRs) as required by state regulations.
