Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and oversees the daily functions of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll departments. This role also encompasses integration and accounting oversight for future acquisitions, including direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, AP Manager, and Payroll Manager, along with indirect oversight of the entire Accounting Department.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and inspiring leader, a strategic thinker with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities. A hands-on approach and attention to detail are essential when required.


Essential Functions:
  • Daily/Weekly Accounting Activities:
    Collaborate with the CFO and other senior leaders to define and achieve departmental goals. Provide guidance and training to the Accounting, AP, and Payroll teams, fostering a positive environment that encourages growth and development.
  • Lead efforts to identify and implement accounting tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including bankers and insurance professionals.
  • Oversee daily cash analysis to ensure sufficient liquidity for obligations.
  • Develop and uphold a robust system of internal controls over accounting transactions.
  • Manage the chart of accounts to accurately reflect all financial activities.

Monthly Accounting Activities:
Supervise the month-end close process, ensuring timely preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses. Assist in the accounting evaluation of significant capital projects, ensuring compliance with capitalization standards.

Coordinate with external personnel to ensure proper accounting for federal grants.

Annual Accounting Activities:
Collaborate with the FP&A Department to support external auditors during annual audits, providing a clean trial balance and comprehensive supporting documentation.

Assist in preparing timely financial statements for bond reporting, coordinating with the finance team.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tax obligations, including property and sales taxes.

Oversee the renewal of insurance policies, including gathering necessary information and analyzing options.

Support the preparation of the Annual Financial Reports (AFRs) required by state regulations.
