We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our Patient Access Services team, you will be responsible for completing inpatient registrations, insurance verification, and securing regulatory signatures. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively interact with hospital and clinical staff, promoting a positive experience for all patients.
Key Responsibilities- Complete patient registration at inpatient bedside, including demographic, regulatory information, and signatures
- Review registrations for completeness and correctness, and support registration areas as needed
- Ensure compliance regulations are met, including securing consents and regulatory signatures from patients or designees
- Provide information on financial care counseling resources for self-pay patients
- Assist in audits of regulatory documents/signatures
- Associate's Degree with one year of working experience in healthcare, hospitality, or a related industry
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computing, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage stress in a fast-paced environment
- Strong PC experience and Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Ability to work some holidays and variable pass days
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Billing experience, accounts receivable, and hospital patient access/registration experience
- Knowledge of medical insurance benefits and experience with EMR computerized registration/financial/IT systems
