We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Lead Representative to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our Patient Access Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient registration and financial screening processes.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the Registration Super-User and Shift Lead for Inpatient Follow-Up team, providing guidance and support to staff and multi-disciplinary colleagues.
- Expedite registration functions according to priorities, ensuring timely completion of patient registrations.
- Assist in monitoring and coordinating staff work efforts to ensure patient registrations are completed prior to discharge.
- Complete patient registration at inpatient bedside, including demographic, regulatory information, and signatures, and confirming insurance eligibility.
- Review registrations for completeness and correctness, and provide support to Registration areas as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including securing consents and regulatory signatures from patients or designees.
- Provide information on financial care counseling resources for self-pay patients.
- Assist in audits of regulatory documents and signatures.
- Evaluate patient experience or internal stakeholder satisfaction issues and escalate to Supervisor or Manager as necessary.
- Contribute to staff performance input to Supervisor to support evaluation processes.
- Associate's Degree with two years of working experience in healthcare, hospitality, or a related industry.
- In lieu of degree, four years of demonstrated excellence working in a patient-facing role in healthcare, such as a medical office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computing, and multi-tasking skills.
- Candidate must demonstrate experience and expertise in speaking with customers and working well with persons who are under stress.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Previous experience as a Patient Access Representative at a medical center.
- Familiarity with hospital insurance coverage and benefits verification.
