Job Summary

Aquinas College (Michigan) seeks a highly motivated and organized Admissions Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our Undergraduate Admissions Office, you will serve as the direct link between the College and prospective undergraduate students, representing the College in articulating academic programs and the enrollment process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to generate prospects and develop applications from assigned territories.
  • Plan and organize assigned territories for optimal recruitment through various outreach and correspondence methods, individual appointments, alumni utilization, and faculty/staff support.
  • Serve as an admissions liaison between the Undergraduate Admissions Office and other campus departments as needed.
  • Review and evaluate applications for completion, admission, and scholarship decisions.
  • Schedule and facilitate high school visits and attend college fairs in assigned territories, which may include major metropolitan areas.
  • Complete travel itineraries and submit travel and expense reports on a weekly basis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in all services available to students, including the admissions process, financial aid, and scholarships.
  • Educate prospective students, families, educational groups, and others during on-campus individual appointments and on- and off-campus group presentations.
  • Attend all on-campus recruitment events, including information sessions, open houses, and special group visit initiatives.
  • Attend off-campus recruitment-related events as needed, including senior awards nights and college decision-making presentations.
  • Aid in the successful execution of auxiliary admission functions as needed.
  • Assist staff in the recruitment of nursing, international, dual enrollment, and transfer students.
  • Work assigned Saturdays to serve students unable to visit during the week.
  • Maintain documentation and analytical tracking of territory through CRM tools.
  • Follow up on all written and verbal correspondence, including voicemail, email, social media, texts, and notice board contacts.
  • Attend all admission staff meetings and report on assigned projects and territory.
  • Stay current on trends in higher education and college-wide developments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or two years of college and two years of direct admissions experience.
  • Prior experience demonstrating ability to plan, be organized, and interact effectively with students and their families.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-motivate.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with varied constituencies, including high school counselors, teachers, and principals, faculty, coaches, and other college staff.
  • Ability to use databases, including tracking, reporting, and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and/or experience with social media.
  • Commitment to collaboration and creative problem-solving.
  • Commitment to Aquinas's mission.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel within MI, IN, OH, and IL.
  • Ability to work unconventional hours, including weekend and night hours as needed.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
