About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Omaha Children's Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the well-being of our young patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in a pediatric setting, adhering to established protocols and the nursing process.
  • Coordinate with team members to ensure a collaborative approach to patient care, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
  • Perform treatments, procedures, and medication administration in a professional and compassionate manner, following Children's Physicians policy and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, mental, emotional, and social conditions, documenting findings accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate diagnostic tests and procedures, scheduling appointments and communicating with patients, families, and other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Provide patient and family education, ensuring they are informed and empowered to manage their health effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with age-specific or developmental milestones, providing care that meets the unique needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, and adolescents.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient care documentation within the electronic medical record, adhering to Children's Physicians policy and procedures.
  • Respond appropriately in crisis situations or life-threatening emergencies, demonstrating critical thinking and sound judgment.
  • Direct other team members in the delivery of nursing care, ensuring seamless coordination and effective communication.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills when performing phone triage, responding to patient inquiries, and documenting interactions accurately.
  • Stay current with laboratory standards and guidelines, ensuring compliance and maintaining high-quality patient care.
  • Promote the use of Children's Connect, communicating with parents via the online portal whenever feasible.
  • Take ownership of quality metrics, working to continuously improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of exam rooms, ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Manage supply and linen levels, maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Attend required meetings and educational sessions, staying informed and engaged in professional development.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience, with previous pediatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with EPIC, a pediatric electronic medical record system, is also preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Nebraska or Iowa, with BCLS - Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • PEARS - Peds Emergency Assessment certification within 180 days, or PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification if holding another position within Children's where PALS is required.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) proficiency is preferred, based on clinic location.
  • Travel to other Children's Physician clinics may be required.
