RISE Program Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Tumwater School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing special education services to students with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluation and Monitoring: Evaluate student progress, monitor student performance, and provide individualized instruction to meet the needs of students with special education requirements.
- Interpersonal Relations: Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and students to create a supportive school climate.
- Program Development: Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of students with special education requirements.
- State and District Standards: Utilize state and district standards to develop IEPs and lessons that align with student needs.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with students, parents, and staff to interpret student performance, explain program design, and coordinate with community resources.
- Building Team Member: Participate as a building team member in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of school programs.
- Functional Life Skills: Develop and implement functional life skills programming using adopted curriculum.
- Health and Safety: Ensure the health and safety of students in the instructional setting.
- Supervision: Accept responsibility for the general supervision of students at school, at school-sponsored activities, or events, and for community-based education placements.
- Classroom Atmosphere: Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere and discipline appropriate to the particular teaching situation.
- Program Rationale: Communicate program rationale and procedure to staff, community, and students.
- Professional Development: Keep current with educational developments within the profession.
- Compliance: Comply with district safety rules and regulations.
- IEP Development: Lead a multi-disciplinary team in the development of appropriate IEPs for assigned students.
- Evaluation and Interpretation: Evaluate students and interpret the results of evaluations to appropriate stakeholders.
- Legally Appropriate Goals: Create legally appropriate goals and objectives (to include, but not limited to academic, social/behavioral, and life skills).
- Reasonable Accommodation: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate: Possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s) in assigned area(s).
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance: Obtain criminal justice fingerprint clearance.
