Job Overview

Position Summary

As a key member of our technical team, you will play a crucial role in assisting both local and remote personnel by addressing and resolving technology-related challenges at advanced support levels. You will cultivate and maintain productive relationships with clients, ensuring a high standard of service across diverse hardware and software platforms. Additionally, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior technology staff at River Run Computers Inc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and manage the health of servers and workstations, including reviewing system logs, disk space usage, processor and memory performance, as well as overseeing patch management, backups, and security measures.
  • Perform setup, analysis, and troubleshooting of both basic and intermediate IT hardware and software, which includes installing or replacing hardware components, managing cabling, peripherals, drivers, and software, as well as customizing system settings and resolving end-user issues.
  • Conduct basic and intermediate network protocol configuration and analysis, identifying and diagnosing connectivity issues, name resolution problems, and basic routing challenges, while ensuring critical devices are properly integrated into the client network.
  • Administer basic and intermediate network tasks, including the creation, modification, and maintenance of user accounts, mailboxes, printers, group policies, and network security protocols.
  • Oversee the management and administration of designated client networks.
  • Assist the Support Desk with escalated issues as needed.
  • Act as auxiliary Support Desk personnel when required, helping users troubleshoot and resolve problems through effective communication and analysis.
  • Identify and escalate more complex issues to higher-level staff, ensuring a smooth transition and knowledge transfer.
  • Engage in the setup, analysis, and repair of server and infrastructure devices under the supervision of a Systems Engineer.
  • Participate in the configuration and deployment of complex network projects under the guidance of a Systems Engineer.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with clients and team members.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with fault-tolerance strategies and disaster recovery is advantageous.
  • Experience in Windows Desktop Administration.
  • Proficient in Windows Server Administration.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Basic understanding of DNS, routing, and firewall technologies.
  • Proficient in backup, patch management, and security technologies.
  • Experience with Active Directory user and object management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange mailbox and client management.
  • Familiarity with messaging systems and spam management.
  • Basic understanding of wireless technologies and messaging systems.
  • Foundational knowledge of virtual technologies and remote access technologies.

Education

Associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution or a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a Microsoft network environment (Windows 2003/2008/2012 domains) with centralized management for hardware, software, and backup processes.


Transportation Requirements

Must possess a reliable vehicle and valid insurance.


Physical Requirements

The role may require the employee to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Certifications

All Systems Administrators are expected to hold at least a basic competency certification in Windows Server Administration and Network Administration, such as the Windows Server Administration Exam and Network + Exam, or equivalent internal certifications as designated by River Run Computers Inc.
