Job Responsibilities:

The following summarizes the key responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Oversee a team, ensuring effective communication of all relevant information.
  • Review claims, reporting forms, and cancellations, initiating corrections to guarantee accuracy regarding dates, coverage, signatures, commissions, premiums, and attachments.
  • Verify all pertinent activities on assigned files and recommend further actions as necessary.
  • Identify appropriate channels for reporting new loss claims.
  • Manage all documentation related to claims.
  • Utilize discretion to provide necessary information and correspondence to agents or insurers for proper claims processing.
  • Evaluate claim coverage with insurance providers to ensure accurate payment of claims.
  • Assess the eligibility of denied claims.
  • Proactively address and fulfill customer needs, both internal and external.
  • Maintain the claims and suspense system, ensuring follow-up on the receipt of policies, endorsements, inspection reports, correspondence, and claims from external sources.
  • Process all departmental claims promptly in accordance with company policies.
  • Facilitate training for new hires within the department.
  • Provide oversight to Claims Assistants.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in claims handling with knowledge of commercial and multi-line insurance.
  • Ability to critically analyze claim files for relevant information and make informed recommendations.
  • Capacity to make independent decisions in line with company guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of insurance processes and company protocols.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and tact in all interactions.
  • Effective leadership skills to positively influence departmental staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer and office applications.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
Preferred:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
Compensation:
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $120,000, with additional incentive pay available.

Benefits Overview:
All regular employees (not temporary or contingent) working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, though specific eligibility may vary by division.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, and tax-advantaged savings accounts, among other voluntary options.

All regularly scheduled employees can contribute to a 401(k) plan, with company matching contributions available after one year of service and upon reaching age 21.

Employees receive a minimum of 10 days of vacation (prorated based on hire date and employment status) in their first year, along with 10 sick days (also prorated) and paid holidays.
