Indirect Fire Combat Specialist
As a member of the Army National Guard serving as an Indirect Fire Infantryman, you will take charge of the Infantry's most formidable weapon - the mortar system. Within a mortar squad, section, or platoon, you will engage in demanding tasks that may include airborne operations to reach strategic locations where you will establish mortar systems and conceal their positions. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying and neutralizing enemy explosive devices.
Responsibilities
As you advance in your role, your responsibilities will expand. Experienced team members will oversee and mentor fellow Soldiers, lead mortar squads, provide tactical and technical direction to subordinates, and manage the establishment of mortar positions. Senior Indirect Fire Infantrymen are tasked with executing combat orders, directing Soldiers in both offensive and defensive maneuvers, and coordinating indirect fire support.
Key Duties
• Setup, load, and fire various mortar types
• Utilize crew and weaponry in ground combat operations
• Maintain, clean, and store automatic firearms
• Deploy, fire, and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines
• Conduct reconnaissance missions to identify enemy troop positions and artillery sites
Essential Skills

Following 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will acquire essential Soldiering skills, you will participate in 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT).
