Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Support Specialist I to join our team at the University of Texas at Arlington. This role will provide administrative support to the Department of Communication and serve as department internship coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Department of Communication, including answering phone calls, emails, and in-person requests from faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Record faculty absences and confirm entries in TCP.
  • Serve as department internship coordinator, including informing students, faculty, and employers of department internship policies, finding and sharing relevant internship and job opportunities, and processing student requests for internship credit.
  • Maintain internship placement data and contact information.
  • Assist colleagues and event committees with planning, coordinating, and executing department events.
  • Arrange parking for visitors and coordinate visitor parking requests and arrangements.
  • Assist colleagues with maintaining office space and equipment, including supply inventory and purchasing.
  • Reconcile Procard monthly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
  • Associate degree or higher.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Administrative experience in an academic setting.
  • Proficiency in MyMav (PeopleSoft).
