Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Support Specialist I to provide administrative support to the Department of Communication. The successful candidate will serve as department internship coordinator, assist with event planning, and maintain office space and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Department of Communication, including answering phone calls, emails, and in-person requests from faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
  • Serve as department internship coordinator, responsible for finding and sharing relevant internship and job opportunities, processing student requests for internship credit, and maintaining internship placement data and contact information.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing department events, including purchasing and transporting items as needed.
  • Coordinate visitor parking requests and arrangements, and submit room reservation requests as needed.
  • Assist colleagues with maintaining office space and equipment, including supply inventory and purchasing as needed.
  • Reconcile Procard monthly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Administrative experience in an academic setting.
  • Proficiency in MyMav (PeopleSoft).
  • Excellent computer skills.
