Overview:

In collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, this role supports the manager in overseeing daily operations within the unit. The Clinical Coordinator assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care delivery on the assigned unit and shift. This position also contributes to the development and evaluation of nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care through specialized knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and guidance regarding unit objectives and the work environment, assisting the nurse manager in various duties.

2. Exhibit personal and professional accountability for oneself and the nursing staff.

3. Ensure a safe environment for both staff and patients within the unit.

4. Engage in performance improvement initiatives.

5. Support recruitment and retention efforts for nursing staff.

6. Utilize critical thinking to manage patient care through effective staffing plans, daily shift management, and resource delegation.

7. Assist in human resource management, including coaching, timekeeping, and the development and evaluation of nursing personnel.

8. Address patient care and staffing needs across the Akron Children's Hospital network.

9. Foster a positive work atmosphere and encourage staff engagement.

10. Act as a clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team.

11. Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.

12. Perform additional duties as required.

Additional Information:
Technical Skills:
1. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is essential.

2. A valid Ohio nursing license is required.

3. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

4. Familiarity with the Department of Nursing Resuscitation Requirements and training policy is necessary.

5. Relevant professional nursing certification is preferred.

Education and Experience:
1. Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN.

2. Certification: May vary based on department/unit requirements.

3. Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience with demonstrated management and leadership skills is required.

4. Supervisory Experience: Previous experience as a charge nurse or in a leadership role is necessary.

5. Strong leadership abilities, including communication, organizational skills, time management, coping skills, motivation, problem-solving, autonomy, and team support are essential.
