NICU Clinical Supervisor

Overview:
As a pivotal member of the healthcare team, the Clinical Coordinator for the NICU plays a vital role in overseeing daily operations within the unit. This position collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care delivery on the assigned unit and shift. The coordinator is instrumental in the development and evaluation of nursing staff, providing specialized care through expert knowledge and judgment.Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and strategic direction to achieve unit goals and foster a positive work environment in collaboration with the nurse manager.
2. Exhibit accountability for personal and team performance, ensuring high standards of care.
3. Uphold safety protocols for both staff and patients within the unit.
4. Engage in initiatives aimed at performance improvement and quality assurance.
5. Support recruitment and retention strategies for nursing staff.
6. Utilize critical thinking to manage patient care effectively, including staffing plans and resource allocation.
7. Assist in human resource management tasks, including coaching and evaluating nursing personnel.
8. Address patient care and staffing requirements across the Akron Children's Hospital network.
9. Foster a supportive work culture that promotes staff engagement and satisfaction.
10. Act as a clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team, sharing expertise and guidance.
11. Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to address the comprehensive needs of patients, including physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety aspects.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
Technical Skills:
1. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent software is essential.
2. A valid Ohio nursing license is required.
3. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
4. Familiarity with the Department of Nursing Resuscitation Requirements and training policies is necessary.
5. Relevant nursing certification is preferred.
Education and Experience:
1. Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN.
2. Certification: Requirements may vary by department/unit.
3. Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities is required.
4. Supervisory Experience: Previous experience as a charge nurse or in a leadership role is essential.
5. Strong leadership attributes, including effective communication, organizational skills, time management, problem-solving abilities, and team support are required.
